Location: Graceville, Brisbane

Client: A professional Brisbane based couple, with their 2 children

Our Classic American Makeover showcases two distinct phases of transformation for a family home in Graceville, Brisbane. Initially undertaken in 2017 and then again in 2023, this project reflects our commitment to evolving and adapting classic American-inspired design to meet modern needs.

The brief was to add additional square meters to the house for a larger master bedroom, walk-in robe, ensuite, laundry and storage room. We seized the opportunity during the structural works to completely redo the street appeal.

Key Elements: 1 Master Bedroom, Walk-in Robe, Ensuite, Powder Room and Laundry Room, Storage Room. The brief was to create an American-inspired home.

Back in 2017, we first gave this house a cosmetic facelift.

Some new balustrading, an arbour to soften the overhanging deck (plus new fence & paint managed by the client) worked wonders to fix this ugly duckling.

In 2023, we've taken it up a notch with a structural renovation.

We added special features such as a hand-pitched cathedral ceiling, a gabled roof with shingles, a carriage-style garage door, timber double-hung windows, a cutesy gabled portico entrance, and detailed trim carpentry and fretwork.

The master bedroom featured some of our favourite go-to signature design details including hand-pitched cathedral ceiling, gorgeous feature window seat, wallpaper and beautiful wainscotting panelling.

Front Porch Doors were seamlessly integrated throughout the master bedroom, making a significant difference to the look and feel of the outdated internal doors.

Our charming Marie Internal Door graced the entrance to the master bedroom and our chic Burleigh Internal Door adorned the entrance to the ensuite!

Our cute custom-built vanity and recessed mirrored cabinet (for extra storage) stole the spotlight! We have also have used the gorgeous Phoenix Tapware Cromford Range in Chrome from The Blue Space, and the sleek stone top from Smart Stone Australia.

The gorgeous traditional style washstand is such a beautiful feature piece in the powder room, and the tradition continues with more of our favourite design elements, wallpaper and wainscotting.

Due to popular demand, we're excited to introduce a new door design to our collection, similar to the louvred door here in the powder room. This door has been used here as a sliding cavity door, but it's also suitable as a standard hinged door or even as a barn door.

The pressed metal splashback and classic marble veined herringbone floor tiles add a sense of nostalgia and classic beauty. Doing laundry just got a little bit more pleasant! We also love the contemporary take on the classic bridge tap to give a traditional farmhouse feel.

Moreover, the storage room emerged as a highly functional feature, playing a key role in enhancing the overall practicality and efficiency of the space.

Our ever popular Ivy Willow Door used here in the laundry not only enhances the overall aesthetic of the space, it also blends functionality with style.
