Client: A holiday home for a professional Brisbane based couple

In collaboration with our talented friend & industry colleague @donnaguylerdesign, the brief was to update the existing 60’s chamfer board holiday home while maximising the current footprint.

Key Elements: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Powder Room, Open plan kitchen, living,  dining, and a separate combined Laundry/Mudroom.

The brief was to create a holiday home for a professional Brisbane based couple including 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, powder room, open plan kitchen, living, dining, and a separate combined laundry/mudroom.

The entire house underwent a remarkable facelift, starting with the dated kitchen and laundry. The original 1960’s kitchen, still adorned in its well-yellowed glory, was revamped using Kaboodle’s Paint Your Own Series, and we added in some custom wall cabinets to create a gorgeous focal point around the cooking area. We also incorporated some of our signature hacks, such as the cross detail and American Oak open shelving on the kitchen island, adding a touch of charm and beach vibes to the space.

The laundry was ingeniously transformed into a combined mudroom/laundry, providing direct access for sandy feet coming in from the beach.

A highlight of the home is the feature relaxed coastal vibe grid ceiling, a modern twist on the traditional coffered ceiling. Throughout the home, gorgeous wall panelling in a mix of board and batten, VJ, and wainscoting, introduces textural elements in every room. The outdated bathroom and toilet spaces received a significant upgrade, with the addition of a new ensuite for the master bedroom.

If you love this freestanding shaker-style vanity and want to enquire, please reach out to us at Cabinetry By Front Porch Properties.

Front Porch Doors were seamlessly integrated throughout the property, making a significant difference to the look and feel of the outdated doors. Our ever-popular Ivy Willows were chosen for the front door, the feature barn door to the laundry/mudroom and as stunning French doors to the main living space.

Meanwhile, our Burleigh Internal Doors adorned all bedrooms and bathrooms, bringing freshness and cohesion to the home. You can explore our full door collection here.

Updated street side windows not only breathe new life into the space but also invite much-needed airflow and light. Where we were able to salvage some of the existing windows, we updated them with a fresh coat of white paint and our signature architrave detail.

The exterior of the beach shack received a well-deserved facelift, with a freshly painted exterior and roof, complemented by the addition of classic balustrading.

We're proud of the journey this old girl has taken, from an outdated 60’s home to this gorgeous ‘beach shack’ gem, and we are sure there are going to be lots of happy, sandy feet traipsing through in the years to come.
